Glow Sticks

Glow sticks are usually low in toxicity but the liquid tastes bitter and can cause drooling and mouth irritation.
What to do
Offer water or a small amount of milk or food to dilute the taste. Contact your vet if symptoms persist or the plastic was swallowed.
When to contact a vet: Contact a vet if the dog swallowed large pieces of plastic or has ongoing vomiting.

Why
The liquid inside glow sticks is dibutyl phthalate. It tastes extremely bitter and causes excessive drooling, foaming at the mouth and sometimes vomiting. It rarely causes serious poisoning, but dogs may panic because of the taste. The plastic tube can also cause obstruction if swallowed.
