Privacy Policy
Last updated 8 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information Is It For Dogs collects, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR. It describes how the site actually works today — nothing more.
Who we are
Is It For Dogs is the website at www.isitfordogs.com. The data controller is A&J STUART ONLINE LTD, contactable at w5jons@gmail.com. Registered address: A&J STUART ONLINE LTD, c/o Suite 2c, Brosnan House, 175 Darkes Lane, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 1BW, United Kingdom. Company number: 13341141. See our Contact & Legal Information page.
We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, and we do not believe one is required. If that changes we will say so here.
Using the site without an account
You can search and read every safety page without signing in. When you type a question or upload a photo we record the wording of the search and the result our system produced, so we can find gaps in our safety library and fix wrong or missing answers. These records are not linked to your name or email address.
We also record technical error reports when something on the site breaks, so we can fix it.
Accounts
If you create an account we handle your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash by our backend provider), and optionally a display name you give us. You can instead sign in with Google, in which case Google confirms your identity to us and we receive your email address, name and profile picture reference.
We use this only to sign you in and to keep your saved information attached to the right person. We do not send marketing email, and there is no newsletter.
What you can store in your account
Saved checks: items you have looked up and chosen to keep.
Allergy notes: free-text notes about your dog's allergies, sensitivities, symptoms or vet findings.
Vet reports and other uploads: files (images or PDFs) you attach to a note. These are stored in a private area that only your account can read, through short-lived links generated for you.
- Please do not upload documents containing other people's personal information, or any information about you that the site does not need.
Photographs you scan
When you scan an item, the photograph is sent to our server and passed to an AI image model to identify what is in the picture. The photograph is used for that single check and is not saved to our database or file storage.
AI processing
Artificial intelligence is used in two ways: to understand your typed question or identify your photo, and — only when we have no verified library entry for an item — to produce a clearly-labelled fallback answer.
These requests are sent through the Lovable AI Gateway to Google (Gemini) for photo and text understanding and to OpenAI for the fallback answer. What is sent: your typed question or photograph, and, where relevant to the check, the allergy note text held on your account. Your name, email address and account identifier are not sent.
Please do not include personal details about yourself or other people in the questions you type or the notes you save. AI-generated fallback answers are labelled on screen as not being from our checked library.
Cookies, storage and analytics
We use a small amount of essential browser storage to keep you signed in. Non-essential storage and third-party tracking run only if you allow them. Full detail is in the Cookie Policy, and you can at any time.
Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and similar advertising tools are not installed on this site.
Affiliate links
Our Offers page contains affiliate links to merchants, currently through the Awin network. If you allow affiliate/advertising cookies and then click a link, Awin records the referral so any commission can be attributed to us; Awin acts as its own controller for that tracking. If you do not allow it, the links still work and take you to the merchant. See our Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure.
Who processes your information
Our backend (accounts, database and private file storage) runs on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the EU (Frankfurt region), provided through Lovable Cloud. Our website hosting and platform services are provided by Lovable, with content delivery by Cloudflare. AI processing is provided by Google and OpenAI via the Lovable AI Gateway. Google also processes sign-in data if you use Google sign-in, and Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Transfers rely on the providers' own safeguards.
Confirm with legal review which processor terms and transfer mechanisms you wish to cite here.
How long we keep information
Account information, saved checks, notes and uploads are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting your account removes them.
Search and error records are technical and are not linked to your identity; we keep them while they remain useful for improving the safety library.
A fixed retention period for search and error logs still needs to be decided — tell us the period you want and we will apply it.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
You can delete your saved checks and notes yourself at any time from the My dog page, and you can close your account there, which deletes your data. For anything else, contact us using the details on the Contact page and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
Access to your saved information is restricted at database level so that only your account can read or change it. Uploaded files are held in a private area and served only through short-lived links. We do not store card details and we do not take payments.
Legal bases
We rely on: your consent for non-essential cookies and tracking; performance of a contract for providing your account and the features in it; and our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure, fixing faults and improving the accuracy of our safety library.
Children
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top.
