Yeast extract spreads are very high in salt and can cause sodium poisoning in large amounts.

Why
Yeast extract products such as Marmite and Vegemite are extremely salty. A small lick is unlikely to harm, but a large amount can cause sodium poisoning, leading to vomiting, tremors, seizures and brain swelling. Some products also contain onion or garlic powder, which are toxic to dogs.
