Human Toothpaste

Human toothpaste is dangerous for dogs. It often contains fluoride and xylitol, which can be toxic.
What to do
Contact your vet immediately if your dog ate any human toothpaste.
When to contact a vet: Emergency vet attention immediately if the toothpaste contained xylitol.

Why
Many human toothpastes contain xylitol, which is extremely toxic to dogs and can cause low blood sugar and liver failure. Fluoride in large amounts can also cause stomach upset and more serious signs. Dogs should only use toothpaste formulated for pets.
