Why
Apple flesh is not toxic to dogs and is a popular low-fat treat. The pips contain amygdalin, which releases small amounts of cyanide when chewed; a stray pip is unlikely to cause harm, but pips should not be fed deliberately. The core is hard and can be a choking or blockage risk, particularly for small dogs. Apple is also high in natural sugar, so keep portions small.
