Why
Cucumber is not toxic to dogs. It is mostly water and very low in calories, which makes it a useful treat for dogs on a weight-control diet. Large chunks or whole pieces can be a choking risk, especially in small dogs or dogs that gulp their food. Pickled cucumber and gherkins are a different matter, as they are high in salt and often contain onion or garlic in the brine.
